Divergent is the first book of the trilogy written by best-selling author, Veronica Roth. Beatrice "Tris" Prior explores her identity within a society that defines their citizens by their social and personality-affiliation with five factions ; Abnegation(The Selfless), Dauntless (The Brave), Candor(The Honest), Erudite(The Intelligent) and Amity(The Kind) which removes the threat of anyone exercising independent will and re-threatening the population's safety. Underlying the action focused main plot is the romantic subplot between Tris and one of her Dauntless instructors, nicknamed Four.
